When you arrive at Borders on the Bay, you'll immediately know that this vacation is going to be something special. As you drive down Magnolia Way and enter the private cul-de-sac at the end, you'll see beautiful water views of the Currituck Sound. You can't help but feel the tension start to ebb away.
There it is -- Borders on the Bay! Look at the cute dogs on the house sign! They're the owner's two Borders Terriers, Winston and Clementine, hence the name "Borders" on the Bay. And look at the sand dollar stepping stones in the front yard leading to that comfy bench under the lovely live oak trees. Lots of nice shade for those hot summer days. The owners even planted some colorful flowering annuals in the front yard and around the pool fence. This place sure doesn't look like an ordinary beach house! It looks more like a home.
It's time to hop out of the car and go inside to explore. Smell that fresh salt air. Up the steps you go to the front veranda where two comfy rockers, a glider, and wicker chairs await. Take a moment to lean against the railing and soak up the beautiful sound views. You know this is going to be the perfect place to watch those gorgeous Outer Banks sunsets. The rocking chairs will have to wait for later, after you have a chance to explore inside.
Open the front door and walk into the welcoming foyer. On this level you'll find a king-size master bedroom, two other comfortable bedrooms, and the laundry area. The front twin bedroom has a beautiful sound view and the two rear bedrooms overlook the crystal blue pool and expansive pool deck. The pyramid bunk bedroom is decorated with lighthouses and bright white furniture. The king-size master with the separate bath is decorated in a cheery yellow floral with seaside decor. Both of the rear bedrooms have a separate door onto the lower rear deck that leads directly down to the pool deck. The entrance to the pool deck is guarded by a safety gate that only adults can reach to unlock. All of the deck and pool entrances are secured with the magnetic safety gates. The pool area is backed by a natural area that ensures your privacy. If you wake up early, you'll might even see native deer walking along the left side of the yard into the wooded area leading to the vast Audobon preserve to the south.
Wait a minute -- where does this other door lead? A game room! There's foosball, a ping pong table, and a bar with stools. There's even a mini-frig for cold drinks and ice cream, and a microwave for cooking popcorn. Look -- there are bikes for riding throughout the community, games for use around the pool, and lots of beach chairs for when we go to the ocean. The kids are going to LOVE this!
OK, let's go upstairs and see the rest of the house. Wow, look at this great room! It's so bright and open. Two full-size ivory leather sofas face the fireplace and a 42" flat screen HDTV. There's even a BOSE surround sound system. Look at all of the DVDs! And check the cabinets -- they're loaded with games, puzzles, books, and even more movies. There must be at least 100 movies! Perfect for family time. This is definitely going to be fun, rain or shine! The beautiful full wall hand-painted tromp l'oeil mural of The Currituck Sound will give the feeling of being outside even when we're relaxing inside.
The dining table seats eight and two bar stools cozy up to the kitchen counter. While dining, we can enjoy overlooking the natural area. We can even go out on the rear deck to eat if we want since there's a large bar table with four bar stools, six other comfy polywood chairs and three side tables. I bet we can see a million stars from there at night.
Love the kitchen! It's so bright and well-stocked. There's lots of colorful dinnerware and glasses as well as professional quality cookware. No skimping on the utensils, either. There's even a nice, large French door refrigerator with special storage drawers for large platters and such. The automatic ice maker is hooked up to the LeBleu purified water system, as are all of the bathroom sinks in the house, so we'll have clean, fresh water to drink. We're going to really enjoy using this kitchen. It's open to both the dining and great rooms so we won't miss out on any of the fun.
Let's check out the king-size master on this level; it's through the double doors. Oh, how nice! The decor has the perfect "beachy" look. Feel how comfy this mattress is - not a cheap one, for sure. It's just like the one in the lower level master bedroom. The soft ivory leather lounge chair and ottoman are going to be perfect for some quiet time to read or nap. Love this master bathroom, too. I know I'm going to ease away some tension in the large Jacuzzi jetted spa tub. Ahh.
What else is on this level? Oh yeah, the front veranda. Nice! There's a wicker bistro table and two tall chairs on the left and, on the right, a white wicker glider and two glider chairs along with end tables and a coffee table. This will be great for enjoying coffee in the morning or drinks at night. The dog is going to love watching the world go by from this vantage point.
OK, it's time to unpack and start enjoying ourselves. We already spied the great pool area with the upscale flagstone BBQ and bar. The kids are going to love splashing in the pool while we soak in the upscale 6-person spa with music playing on the built-in stereo system. We're going to have some great times out there. I can already smell the food cooking on the BBQ and hear the laughter of everyone sitting around the bar with a cold drink while something tasty is on the grill. We definitely didn't expect anything this nice since we usually only got a small charcoal or gas grill at the other places we've stayed. This baby has five gas burners, a side burner for pots, and a mini-frig to store food and cold drinks. It even has all of the grilling utensils we need stored in a plastic container under the grill. Fantastic!
Yep, we sure made the right choice for our vacation place this year! We even get discounts on golf. We've got to remember to reserve this place for next year when we check out with Village Realty on our last day here. But we can think about that later. For now, it's time to unpack our things and head to the beach. We discovered there's a free trolley that comes by every 30 minutes to pick us up and drop us and our things at the beach access. From there, beach valets will carry our things to the beach for us. We can even buy or rent beach gear through the valet service, including chairs, umbrellas, surf boards, and kayaks. The staff will set up the umbrellas and chairs and deliver food or drinks from the Snack Shack to our beach site. Boy, it just doesn't get any better than this!
